Initially built for the needs of SAAB (click on the adjacent area, just Southwest of the runway), the “Trollhättan-Vänersborg Airport” (IATA: THN, ICAO: ESGT, 135 ft / 41 m amsl) is located between Trollhättan (6 km / 3.7 mi, 8 minutes by car) and Vänersborg (13 km / 8 mi, 15 mins), with Uddevalla at 32 km / 19.9 mi (28 mins) and Lysekil at 90 km / 56.2 mi (about 1 hr 20) from there. The name of the international airport was “Fyrstad airport” until 1984, and local people keep on calling it “Malöga airfield” in casual conversations.

Golden Air Flyg (not to be confused with the Florida-based Golden Air) operates two scheduled flights between Trollhättan-Vänersborg and Stockholm City (formerly “Stockholm-Bromma”), twice a day from Monday to Friday, and one flight on Sundays, with a SAAB SF.340.

15/33 asphalt runway's dimensions are now 5,610 ft × 98 ft (1.710 m × 30 m). A new passenger terminal, a new tower and the present Instrument Landing System have been built and installed in 1984.
