  • I hope you read this prior to shopping in Montego Bay. Everyone will attempt to scam you. However, no store owner is worse than Sam & his staff at Banana Bay on Gloucester Ave. The prices listed are 2x more than the actual value. ex: Dora Hat is $26 at his store but only $12 at the Sangster Airport. He will offer you 50% off but its bs b/c the hat should only be $6 not $12. In addition, he offers "free pickup & dropoff" at your hotel. Again, a scam. He doesn't inform you until arrival at his store that its only bc he expects u to spend $100 or more. Seriously!!! I only wanted $60 worth of items & he told me I would I have to pay for me & my toddlers taxi fare r/t even though he advertises "free pickup". I ended up with a dora hat, toddler teeshirt & a pack of hot sauce for $60. He is a scam artist as with every other Jamaican business owner. People smile & pretend to be friendly when all they want is tips or to straight rob u. Warning: Shop at your own risk!!!!!!!!! Banana Bay on Gloucester is a robbery shop!!!! If they were in the US, the business would no longer exist...
  • Unfortunately scammed as well, distracts you fast talking thief! 10.13.14
  • Was there in early Dec., He quoted one price then charged another, did not want to give a receipt, but INSIST , once checked found mistakes, wanted my money back. he refused. We called cops, had 5 there was video taped, after much to do finally got all my money back. He is a BIG CROOK , not a nice person. DON'T SHOP there.
  • I noticed when I got home, that the Banana Bay gift shop charged my credit card twice, but conveniently the second charge was for a different company name, but exact same price
  • bought a few t-shirts there, no big deal, i like the hip strip.
  • I concur to everything you said, was just there in April 2017. yes, I too was robbed by Sam @ Banana Bay, I realized I was being overcharged but I do believe in karma, Sam will not get away for too much longer he & his wife are crooks. It's a tourist trap as most of Jamaica. yes, the ppl are friendly for a price not genuine, but have to admit it's beautiful there.
