Farmers & Merchants Bank Tower (Long Beach, California)

USA / California / Signal Hill / Long Beach, California / Pine Avenue, 320
 office building, historic landmark

320 Pine Ave.
Long Beach, CA 90802

The Farmers and Merchants office tower was a later addition to the bank building that was constructed in 1923 as headquarters for Long Beach’s venerable financial institution. Architecturally, the buildings are outstanding examples of Italian Renaissance Revival classicism with richly detailed terra cotta cladding. The bank, with its perfectly preserved vintage banking hall, is not designated as a historic landmark; the tower and bank are owned separately.

  • This is also the location of radio station KNAC
  • This is a tag for the tower, not the tower + bank. The bank is not a historic landmark.
  • Radio Station KNAC was located on the top floor of the tower. I interned there in 1977. The station itself is of historical note. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KNAC The surrounding views from atop the tower were fantastic. The inside of the bank is breath-taking and when I find my pictures of it, I'll put them up.
