Small memorial plaque on the wall. Sir Roy Watts CBE was chairman of Thames Water between 1983 and 1993, where he was to become well known for kaiing the busienss more efficient (for example reducing the board of directors from 62 members to 15 "because I tend to think old companies get fat"), and became a pioneer of water privatisation in the 1980s. His body was found in the river here in 1993; the cause of his drowning remains unknown.

  • Actually, his body was not found there - it was found near Westminster Bridge. The spot where the commemorative plaque is, is close to where Sir Roy Watts lived. He was suffering from Parkinson's Disease. The coroner recorded an open verdict on how he ended up in the river.
