Parvathamalai is located near to Thenmathimangalam village, which is 20 kms from Polur in Thiruvannamalai District, Tamilnadu. Polur is 35kms(approx)from Thiruvannamalai(Arunachala). The hill(Parvatamalai) is 3500 feet(Approx) high from the sea level. On the top of the hill, Lord Mallikarjunaswamy(Sivan) temple is located, which is believed to be 2000 years old.

This hill is full of herbal(mooligai) plants. There is another route from Kadaladi,to reach Parvathamalai, which is shorter and when compared to Thenmathimagalam route. Thenmathimagalam route is lenghty but easier to reach the top of Parvathamalai. However, both routes joins at a common point, and it is a single route from there which leads to Lord Mallikarjunaswamy temple on top of the hill. There is a ashram for Mounaguruswamy near to the temple. Annadhanam will be provided in this ashram for devotees.During the Pournami full moon day, this hill attracts a lot of devotees.

  • This temple is situated in the high top of "Parvatha Hills" and the hight is 3000 ft from the ground level. Its very good temple but need lot of safety infrastructure measurements for climbing the mountain for the public. The Government should consider this as a holy place one and can develop it as a tourist place by providing sufficient infrastructure to the publice.
  • It is believed that Celestial beings come down to Parvatha Malai during the brahma muhurtham to offer prayers to lord shiva here. The climb to this mountain is quite difficult with some parts of the climb being nearly 90 degrees. Once one reaches the top, there is a nice fragrance that makes the person sleep and once the person wakes up, he sees that pooja has been performed for the lord. It is believed that human beings should not see the prayers offered by Celestial beings and hence they go to sleep during those hours. Sri. Chandrasekara Saraswathi Swamigal had in his bashyam about this hills said that lord shiva and a lot of siddha purushals live in the hill range in and around tiruvannamalai and it is sacrilegious even to set one's foot on these ranges.

  • I feel very happy to say that I claimed the Parvatha Malai twise.First time half on a Chitra pournamy day and next time full on an amavasai day.First time I wanted to see Parvatha malai. I saw. Next time I prayed to see the Lord. I saw Him and Her with their sons and Bhogar. Slept with Them .Of course at the Brhama muhurtham... Both wishes just got full filled. You know how? It is just the desire to see them ,at least once in my life time.No prayers..No offerings...but only the will to see them..You too can see them.Start your climbing .Just keep your eyes always looking up as if you are looking for some stars..and . and ..and think always that you are going to see Them whithin a short time. You can very easily claim the 90 degree Kadaparai padi and They will be with you for ever...

  • We will go on all full moon days to this temple. Most of us had a faith that some goodness will happen whenever we come and return from this temple. There are lot of chances of getting fell down while climbing this mountain but no one till date we’re dead by falling from this mountain. It’s really a great think there is a mountain slope in this mountain in which rods are stick to the mountain rocks with this help all should reach the top. Thanks to those who did that.
