The Peace Grove is a somewhat hidden sanctuary on this Tilden Park hillside. The botanical monument to world peace was created in 1955 to honor individuals who've contributed to the cause of world peace. Some of the individuals memorialized here are almost universally praised for their contributions to world peace. But several are controversial with regard to their contribution to peace, especially given this setting above the liberal community of Berkeley. The Peace Grove is a Rotary Club Project.
