Sometimes known as either Esh Village or Old Esh to distinguish it from the nearby Esh Winning, Esh dates back to Saxon times (the name comes from "ashe" the Anglo-saxon word for ash tree). It has two excellent schools (one Church of England, and one Catholic), a pub (the Cross Keys) and a village shop. The hilltop location grants stunning views in all directions and Esh is known for the splendour of it's sunsets.
