Visible through a viewing window is a stone water bath, widely believed to be part of a Roman Bath House. Critics have argued that it is actually nothing more than an early Victorian cistern for storing water, however the absence of any documentation to support this continues to fuel the belief in the Roman Bath theory.
The bath/cistern (what ever you prefer to call it) can be viewed for free. Look for the sign on the alley wall behind Aldwych Station.
