The Archaeological Museum bestows a better understanding of Georgia’s past, specifically Colchic culture. The museum is unique in Southwestern Georgia showcasing unique materials found during excavations throughout Adjara. The oldest exhibits date back to the Stone Age and monuments from the 8th c. BC. Medieval findings from upper Adjara are also on display.

The museum houses antique Greek and Roman vessels as well as significant clay and glass exhibits. Antique Greek, Roman and Colchic coins are on display for visitors. According to the diversity of exhibits and historic materials, the Batumi Archaeological Museum can undoubtedly be placed among Europe’s leading museums of Colchic culture
