Two grave sites with Russian religious crosses for markers. I was told they washed ashore and when asked mother Russian did not want them back? I was stationed on Shemya 1977-1978.
It's a graves of the sailors from V.Bering's expedition (1741-1742). 28th November 1741 Berings ship - "St.Peter" crushed here. V.Bering died here 6th December 1741 and 18 his sailors died here too. The others can built a boat from the wrecks of "St.Peter" and then (spring 1742) came back home.
