This is the Spanish word for " The Light ". The town's water is provided via a series of irrigation ditches, and residents must fill their storage tanks on the days that water is directed to them. La Luz is known locally for pottery and its Christmas-season luminaria displays. The popular juvenile fiction author Gary Paulsen also maintains a home here.
