Historic former house (now a restaurant). Though much modified and expanded over a century and a half, the oldest core of the property dates all the way to 1873, making it the oldest existing structure in Tempe. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as the "C.T. Hayden House", which refers to its original owner. Monti's closed in November 2014 in preparation for redevelopment of the site. At that time it was reported that the non-historic portions of the restaurant would be demolished, but the historic house portion would be protected and refurbished.
