Seri Tanjung Pinang

Seri Tanjung Pinang is a township within the city of George Town. Located within the Tanjung Tokong suburb, Seri Tanjung Pinang is located approximately 5km northwest of the city centre.

Seri Tanjung Pinang was built on reclaimed land by Eastern & Oriental Berhad (E&O), a major Penangite construction firm. Land reclamation of the area began in the 1980s, but was put on hold due to the 1997 Asian financial crisis. E&O acquired and resumed the land reclamation, and in 2005, the first phase was completed. As of 2019, the second phase of the land reclamation, an artificial isle called Seri Tanjung Pinang Phase 2, was underway.

Today, Seri Tanjung Pinang Phase 1 has become one of the most affluent townships within George Town. The neighbourhood is home to Straits Quay, a shopping mall-cum-marina that also hosts the Straits Quay Convention Centre, as well as Penangpac, a performance arts venue.
