This station was located on the London and Blackwall Extension Railway which was built to join the London and Blackwall Railway (L&BR), later to become the London Tilbury & Southend railway (now known as C2C) from Fenchurch Street at Stepney with the Eastern Counties Railway (ECR) and London, Tilbury and Southend Railway at Bow.
The station opened on 11 September 1871 and operated for approximately 70 years. The station was closed on 21 April 1941.
