Completed in 1988, this 50-storey building serves as the headquarters of Malayan Banking Berhad (or Maybank). It is the largest bank and financial group in Malaysia (as of 2010) with more than 400 domestic branches and 90 international branches and offices. Before the construction of the Petronas Twin Towers in 1995, Menara Maybank was the tallest building in Kuala Lumpur at 244 m (801 ft), nearly half the height of Petronas Twin Towers. Even though this is no longer the tallest building in the city, it still remains a prominent part of the city's skyline.

  • This bank/office tower is sited on a hill called Bukit Mahkamah (hill of court) because the courthouse was once located opposite this hill (during the British colonial days). Before this tower was built, many citizens came to this hill for their morning walk, jogging or just to relax.
