Showcase Cinemas West

This obsolete movie theater opened in 1978, and is the second of three sister locations that were built in the Pittsburgh area. The other two are Showcase Cinemas East in Monroeville, which opened in 1976, and Showcase Cinemas North in McCandless, which opened in 1979. (Only two of the three theaters remain after Showcase Cinemas East closed permanently in 2004, and was demolished in 2008.)

In 1999, National Amusements Inc., the owners of Showcase Cinemas, announced plans to demolish and rebuild the theater, but those plans were shelved soon thereafter.
