  • Has been superceded by Gurney Plaza, now has lots of empty shop lots...Pity
  • this is cause by poor management i think.
  • It is the parking dummy. This place is nothing special but parking is a hassle and expensive - the parking guys are like gangsters. And never park out in front in a free space - the parking gangsters call the cops and you get a ticket before you know it! Even Gurney's parking is cheaper. They could surely increase business at least by 15% if they offered one hour free parking.
  • Even more shops are closing with the opening of the Gurney Plaza New Wing. But I was told that the management is going to conduct a major renovation of this mall. Can anyone confirm this? I believe i read it off The Star Business section...
  • Although the major shopping complexes on the island are Gurney Plaza and Queensbay Mall, Island Plaza still has its own group of customer. Main attraction outlet in this plaza are Metrojaya (the anchor store), Cold Storage and Forum (chinese restaurant). Metrojaya has its own range of products which cannot be found in other supermarket in Penang, and the quality of the goods are better.
  • I went there last week and found out Metrojaya in Island Plaza sell cheaper than Parkson in Gurney Plaza.
  • And there is a nice Starbucks in Island Plaza... the closest one to Tanjong Bungah.
