abandoned / shut down, coal mine, Grade II Listed (UK)
Clipstone Colliery Headstocks are the second highest headstocks in the world. These structures are the only buildings left at the former Clipstone Colliery. Unfortunately, the local town councillors, are trying to get these magnificent headstocks de-listed and demolished.
The urbex community (worldwide I may add) are actively campaigning to keep these buildings listed and used as a permanent reminder of the coal industry in the Nottinghamshire Coalfield.
They could easily be attached to the Vicar Water Country Park, which was built behind the former colliery, on the former railway lines, and colliery slag mounds.
An excellent place to visit. :)
