Taedonggang Brewery was constructed in 2000-2001. Taedonggang is a DPRK brand of four beers from barley grown in Taehondan County (Ryanggang Province) or Ongjin County (South Hwanghae). It was purchased from Ushers in Britain and the 500,000 barrel brewery and reassembled in Pyongyang. It uses a German computer mechanization program for production. Taedonggang is widely available in the DPRK, as well as an import to the ROK (South Korea).
