farm, production
The Pyongyang Catfish Farm began operations with a stock of 6,000 catfish in December 2002, as part of KWP policies intended to boost the DPRK's nominal food supply. The catfish farm's stock is distributed to food markets and restaurants throughout Pyongyang. The physical facility includes thirty (30) indoor ponds and one-hundred (100) outdoor ponds. Because this serves as research facility as well as a production site, the staff is comprised of academic scientists from Kim il Sung University and the University of Fisheries. The chief engineer is Jong Yong Kwan.
