Crowne Plaza Glasgow (Glasgow)

United Kingdom / Scotland / Glasgow / Congress Road, 3
 hotel, Crowne Plaza Hotel

Originally built in 1988 as the Forum Hotel - it was a hot political potato in its day.

Hard to believe, but back in the mid 1980s when Glasgow was still an up-and-coming tourist destination, the local hotel industry campaigned vigorously against its construction, and were eventually steamrollered over by the then Scottish Secretary - Malcolm Rifkind. Its distinctive black reflected glass design isn’t the only Manhattan-esque design feature. Just like an American skyscraper it has no designated 13th floor either.

British TV viewers know it as the location of the Glasgow auditions of The X-Factor, or course!
