  • As youngsters, we have seen Chitralay and Anuradha Cinema Halls go house full. But today, these movie theatres barely attract anyone. The best part of Durgapur Cinema is the fact that it has survived the test of time even after the advent of Cineplex, which is only a few hundred meters away from it. Durgapur Cinema still attracts crowd, shopkeepers do brisk business and is the melting point of neighbourhood folks like us. The show must go on…
  • So much childhood memories of watching movies in the packed/houseful Chitralaya, Anuradha and of course unforgettable Durgapur Cinema (DC) in my college days!! Now myself is in the world`s biggest movie industry and some day I love to go back to shoot a movie in the location around Durgapur Cinema :) **(And a special mention about the first movie hall in Durgapur was the Chitravanu which was nearby Durgapur Railway Station and with its unique architecture made off mud and mortars with balcony and 1st class. Another first one movie hall to mentioned is Kuhelika. Do any one can provide information to me that these 2 grand oldest movie halls of Durgapur still exist or not ?? ....Thanks in advance with kind regards).
  • So much childhood memories of watching movies in the packed/houseful Chitralaya, Anuradha and of course unforgettable Durgapur Cinema (DC) !!..... Now myself is in the world`s biggest movie industry and some day I love to go back to shoot a movie in the locations around Durgapur Cinema. My 1st movie watching experience in Durgapur Cinema (DC) was in 1982 as a small kid with my 6`10 inch tall Big Uncle (Bada Mama) and the hindi movie was "Rajput". Still I do cherish that exciting experience of watching in a huge movie hall with thousands of seats on a 70mm huge silver screen imported from Italy as informed to me by my 6`6 inch tall Big Brother (Bada Bhaiya/ Dada).....and english movies on Sunday morning show.......I wish I could go back to those days through time travelling !! ______***And a special mention about the first movie hall in Durgapur was the Chitravanu which was beside Durgapur Railway Station and with its unique architecture made off mud and mortars with balcony and 1st class. Another first one movie hall to mentioned is Kuhelika near by andal. Do any one can provide information to me that these 2 grand oldest movie halls of Durgapur still exist or not ?? ....Thanks in advance with kind Regards). My Love & Peace to all in Durgapur!!
