This motley collection of WW2 & Korean War era surplus warbirds occupied the field for many years. Included, but not limited to, A-26 Invader, B-25, PV-1 Harpoon, rare F9F Panther, A-4 Skyhawk (Scooter), B-17, F4U Corsair, P-51 Mustang, SNJ, P-38 Lightning, AD-1 Skyraider, and others. Burchinal provided training and checkout rides for most of the types on the field tailored closely to the students skill level. Pilots with 100 hours or 10,000 hours often showed up for a quick instructional ride in the aircraft of their choice. Legal problems in the late 1970s/early 1980s forced Burchinal to sell off most of the collection. Many of his former aircraft are now in various museums scattered across the country. airbum.com/pireps/PirepMustangBurch.html www.airport-data.com/airport/39TA/ www.airnav.com/airport/39TA This article is protected.
