Built originally in Neoclassical style by Matzei Kazakov between 1785 and 1790 for N. Kalinin and A. Pavlov, this was a rental property with shops on the bottom floor. In 1883 the architect Friedberg remodeled the facade to include the Italian Renaissance motifs common to eclecticism seen today. At some point in the late 19th century, this was the Moscow Commercial Bank although it was also known as the Bank of N. Naiden who founded the bank in 1870. The bank was nationalized in 1917. Today it is a branch office of Sberbank.
