Popular in the 1960's. You paid half a dollar and got to go round and round with hundreds of others, while music played. Big fun for teens.

  • This is the ice rink I used to skate on when I was a child in the 1960's! My family lived on Beaverland, and we would walk all the way in the winter, crossing 7 mile, skates dangling from our shoulders. I seem to remember the admission price being much cheaper - an astonishing 10 cents. And skate rental was only a quarter. Of course, there were food concessions, but they were cheap, too. Hot chocolate was always available, and for only another dime. I came here after doing a Google Maps "street view" of the area, trying to imagine where the old rink used to stand. Lo and behold, you've outlined it in red exactly the way I imagined it must have been! Thanks for the nostalgia rush!
