Milford railway station

Milford has its very own station. But not in Milford itself.

This is not uncommon. There are whole towns like Bodmin, Horwich and Sutton-in-Ashfield where this is the case. Bristol also has a station located on a main line which is in the outer suburbs. Tiverton in Devon has a station which is 4 miles from the town itself, but the prize goes to Andover in Hampshire. When the Southampton Line was being built, a station was built to serve Andover between Winchester and Basingstoke - a bit optimistic considering that Andover was over 10 miles away! It is now known as 'Micheldever'.

I meant '8 miles away'. It wasn't that bad.
