The Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway crosses over the Big Qualicum River on this trestle.
It is used twice daily by VIA Rail Canada's Malahat passenger train. The Malahat runs northward from Victoria to Courtenay in the morning, and returns southbound in the afternoon.
