On Saturday October 11, 2008 Prime Minster Dr. Manmohan Singh flagged off first railway train consisting 8 coaches from Srinagar to Anantnag , a distance of 66 km.The stations that lie in the Rajwansher-Anantnag section are: Badgam, Srinagar Pampore, Kakapore, Awantipura, Panjgam and Bijbehra. The 2 AR Rajwansher-Anantnag DEMU will depart from Rajwansher at 7.10 a.m. to arrive at Anantnag at 8.45 a.m. on the same day. Similarly, 4 AR Rajwansher-Anantnag DEMU will depart from Rajwansher at 2.25 p.m. to arrive at Anantnag at 4.00 p.m.. on the same day. In the return direction, the 1 AR Anantnag- Rajwansher DEMU train will depart from Anantnag at 9.05 a.m. to arrive at Rajwansher at 10.40 a.m. on the same day. While the 3 AR train will depart from from Anantnag at 4.15 p.m. to arrive at Rajwansher at 5.50 p.m. on the same day. The 1AR /2AR and 3AR/4AR trains will stop at all the stations enroute.
