Site of former Fort Kamehameha.

Acquired 1907–11. Originally named Fort Upton. Redesignated Fort Kamehameha in 1909 in honor of Kamehameha I, King of Hawaii.

Formerly home to the Headquarters, Harbor Defenses of Pearl Harbor, the Headquarters, 55th Coast Artillery Regiment from 1921 to 1941, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th Companies, Coast Defenses of Oahu from 1919 to 1921, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th Companies, Coast Defenses of Pearl Harbor from 1921 to 1922, the 68th, 75th, 125th, and 185th Coast Artillery Companies from 1922 to 1924, the 1st Battalion, 15th Coast Artillery from 1924 to 1932, the 41st Coast Artillery from 1921 to 1941, the 1st Battalion, 41st Coast Artillery from 1931 to 1941, the 3rd Battalion, 55th Coast Artillery from 1921 to 1925, the 1st Battalion, 55th Coast Artillery from 1925 to 1941, and the 21st Balloon Company from 1920 to 1922.
