A Navy facility where Northern Pump built the first closed loop controlled naval guns. Became FMC plant. Transformed into United defense when purchased from FMC by the Carlyle group. Became a public company with stock ticker UDI. Purchased by British Aerospace in 2006 and renamed BAE Systems. Producer of naval guns, artillery systems and submarine propulsers.
