Brand Name Bargains to Brag About

Constructed by Principal Investments Limited, Dixie Plaza was opened in 1956 with 30 stores, two banks, two supermarkets and parking for 2,500 vehicles. Stores included, Woolworths, Zellers, Bank of Montreal, Pickering Farms, and Loblaws and featured a bowling alley and flea market on the lower level.

While very successful initially, the plaza began to decline in the 1970s with the advent of increased competition from Sherway Gardens (1971) and Square One Shopping Centre (1973). In 1980 the property was purchased by First Plaza which expanded and renovated the plaza and transformed it into a discount centre featuring a Sears Clearance Centre and Knob Hill Farms. In 1988 the renamed Dixie Outlet Mall was sold to Cambridge Leaseholds, now known as Cambridge Ivanhoe. When Knob Hill Farms closed in 2003, further renovations were undertaken.

The 517,000 sq. ft. mall features over 135 stores.
