Pharmaceutical company with SANTO trademark.

Shymkent Chemical-Pharmaceutical factory is one of the oldest undertakings in the world. The merchants Ivanov and Savinkov founded it in 1882. Beginning with output of Santonin (its quality conquered the world's acknowledgement), the production began developing rapidly, broadening the assortment of outputting production. The factory becomes the main undertaking of the country at the moment Soviet power begins acting. It gets the name of "Chemical - Pharmaceutical Factory #1 after F.E.Dzerzhinskiy".

For a long period of time the factory specialized only on output of pharmaceutical substances. Raw materials for future medicinal preparations were delivered to enterprises of Russia, Byelorussia, Ukraine, and the Baltic
Republics, also to abroad countries, where ready-made products were produced. So, the factory itself was almost unknown among ordinary customers, despite its more than secular history.

After Kazakhstan had got its independence the necessity to develop in the country own pharmaceutical industry appeared. Especially it concerned ready medicinal forms. As a result the administration of the company developed and with confidence carried out the program on creating big modern production on output ready-made remedies on the basis of JSC "Chimpharm" (thus the factory was renamed in 1993).

Cooperation with foreign partners gave a chance to master the most advanced equipment fast. Scientific approach to management, focus on professionalism and high technologies let the factory get over the way from producing primary substances to creating a modern pharmaceutical enterprise on output ready-made remedies corresponding to international standards in a short period of time under a new trade mark SANTO.

At the moment the factory continues to develop and widen the list of producing remedies with modern preparations.
