Battery Slemmer

Two 8" disappearing carriage guns were mounted here from 1900 to 1918.

Battery Slemmer was named on February 11, 1902 in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Adam J. Slemmer, 4th U.S. Infantry, who was in command of Fort McRee, Florida in 1861.
