This Ashrama is a sub-center of Belur Math, which received the lands from the Puthanpurayil family of the locality in 1931 through the agency of Swami Nirmalananda, a disciple of Sri Ramakrishna who was working in South India under the authority of another great disciple Swami Brahmananda, President of Belur Math. Besides the Ashrama, on both its flanks and at its back have come up residential houses.
About a hundred feet downhill from the Ashrama gate, is the Nirmala Health Centre, the best known hospital in the town. This came up much later
In between is seen the Ashrama lecture hall and a new building presently let out as shops.
