The Kaatza Station Museum and Archives, governed by the Kaatza Historical Society, is housed in a 1913 Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway Station. We collect, conserve, catalogue, research, display and interpret the history of the Cowichan Lake area. The museum and archives place special emphasis on logging, lumbering, railroading, mining and pioneer life.

We have developed several permanent displays including our award winning pioneer life display with a 12' high mural depicting life at the lake in the 1920's.

Other permanent displays include a store, post office, mine shaft and logging display. We have three temporary displays which we use to tell the story of our local communities, organizations and people.

Also on site is a 1925 school house. It has been renovated and is used as a meeting room and for archival storage. It also contains a 1940's era classroom display.

Our rail display consists of a number pieces of rolling stock representative of the rail service in and around the Lake when the railroads ran here. This includes:

A 1927 Shay locomotive, a log car, a 1916 caboose, 1927 Plymouth locomotive, and a speeder
