  • Berhampur, Ganjam District, Orissa, India. Brahmapur/Berhampur/Borompur/Barampuram are the various names of the same great city which is epicentre of trade and commerce in south Orissa. It is a historic city where our Ex-President VV Giri was born, it was also the constituency of our Ex-Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. The place is famous for it's silk (patto as it is called in Oriya) and the plcae has earned the name "Silk City". Berhampur is a multicultural city, and has a perfect blend of Oriya and Telugu cultures. People here generally speak both the languages. The place is also famous for it's educational institutions, street food, movie halls (though once upon a time) and it's warm hearted people. Welcome to the Silk City, Berhampur.

  • Brahmapur previously Berhampur is indeed a place of choice for the people loving travelling, adventure, fun and joy. It is the heart of Southern Odisha previously Orissa. The city is mostly surrounded by the Eastern Ghats and The Bay of Bengal. There are many landscapes near to it, which makes it a historical place. The people here are very friendly and are living with each day count. The speciality of the city is the food. Moreover the living is very cheap compared to other cities. The market places are the heart of Brahmapur. You'll definitely like this place. That is for sure. Brahmapur welcomes you. Thanks.........

  • Silk city "Brahmapur" which in earlier was told as Berhampur is the city of culture, and business where you can find all the required things that you want. Especially, most of the inhabitants from southern odisha viz. Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Nawrangpur, Malkangiri and some parts of Andhra depend Berhampur being the Business, Educational centre. I have a good attachment with the Brahmapur where i completed my university days and associated till date.

  • I Love Brahmapur.it is the place where i had my first love which is still continuing and i'm happy for it.i really miss berhampur.i wish to stay there fore ever.love u...
  • nothing great in this place.... no industrial development now people's way of living has changed ...same as it was 20 years back...people mentality need to be changed if we need any development at all.
  • Dear Mr. Deepak, I think one should desist from making comments unless you have the full information with with. Do you believe that development is merely industrial development? In that parameter, Sundargarh (where Rourkela exists) should have become the most developed region of Orissa. Berhampur has really many surprises and potentialities which are not properly publicised because of strong regionalism in the state of Orissa. The kind of treatment it has been receiving continuously from both centre and state governments would have made any other city almost a dying place, but here is a place where people have learnt to live with all adverse things and still enjoy the life. Please tell me on which place would you find people coming to watch the devastations of a cyclone of most severe kind even when there was almost knee-deep water. So, I feel your comment is unnecessarily harsh on Berhampur. Prabhash N. Rath
  • I think berhampur is bigger than cuttack Rashmi Ranjan Kar.BBSR
  • !000% right Mr.Rath.
  • Appreciation
  • The people of berhampur are honest, God fearing , sincere and hard working. history says the people of those days of berhampur struggled hard to give our country independence. As rightly noticed they don't love to advertise. That is why many people don't know about the glorious past . The place potagada has some of the remnants of past.Famous berhampuri pata, nabata have its origin from berhampur.
