Ambalapuzha Station is on the Alappuzha-Kayamkulam rail route. This station is managed by the Southern Railways. The station has a plaque showing the commencement of construction. The name on it, Neelakanta Sarma hails from Nagamangalam Illom. He was instrumental in bringing the coastal railway and for it run through Ambalapuzha. By the time construction started, he had retired from the Railways as Member (Engineering), Railway Board.
