Formerly the farm of George Miller, the 133 acre site was sold to the Warminster Municipal Authority in 1986. After years of deliberating on what to do with the land, township officials decided to turn the site into a continuous revenue generating enterprise for the township while still "keeping it green". The resulting 18-hole Five Ponds Golf Course is managed by the township's Parks and Recreation Department and is used by the Municipal Authority for storm water management. Treated water from the Authority's Treatment Plant on Log College Dr is sent up a series of pipes beneath Barness Park and is used to irrigate the course, thus being recycled into the aquifer.

The Club opened to golfers in 1988.

While the property was up for sale in 1985, the township was in negotiations with the Phillies to build a stadium and relocate their Reading minor league farm team here.
