BNSF Railway Tunnel 1

The Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad built a 9 mile line through here during 1915, connecting separate lines of theirs in Guernsey and Wendover. Tunnel 1 was one of the three tunnels constructed for this route. This rail line is now part of BNSF Railway, and it has become quite busy with trains carrying Wyoming coal to powerplants hundreds of miles distant.
