The State Insurance Building is a skyscraper in Wellington, New Zealand. Designed by Stephenson & Turner Architects, the steel-framed building has a height of 103 m (338 ft) with 26 floors and 3 underground floors. It has a floor area of 26,892 sq m (289,465 sq ft). It was the tallest building in New Zealand from 1984 until 1996 and the tallest building in Wellington until 1991. Construction began in 1973, but was brought to a halt in 1975. Work was then restarted in 1981 and the building was finiahed in 1984. It was named BNZ Tower until 1998.
