  • This is damn constructed by KIOCL to fill it with the tailing left behind after recovery of the iron ore. There is no water here that can be used.
  • what prem has mentioned is absolutely correct, basically its a check dam built by Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited, which is not operational since 1st Jan-2006. Supreme Court had stayed the operations on account of environmental concerns.

  • Hi fellows, It not because of dam that the company was stoped. The mining lease had expired and the management did not apply for it at the right time. and our so called environmentalists came to fight to divert the issue in hand. this slurry what you see in the dam costs billions as it has platinum and other prescious metals. but extracting it will take to set up a new plany which KIOCL does not intend to. i lived here for 12 years.. I know these so called environmentalist fighters very well.
