An Anglo-Indian, John Russell Colvin, who was lieutenant governor of the northwestern provinces of India in the 19th century under the British occupation. He died of cholera in 1857 and was buried in the Red Fort, which was then a British military garrison. The tomb of the invading English, placed there in a highly significant place for the Indian culture, is the subject of much criticism.
